I didn’t have to be asked twice to give a talk on one of my main passions – no, I’m not talking about Mr Kipling’s cakes or writing novels, although I could waffle on about my love for mini battenbergs and french fancies all day long. I mean my other love – Travel!
I’ll be talking about solo travel, sharing my adventures on the road and hoping to inspire wanderlust, at a free event in London next month and I’d love for you to come along!
I’m working with Intrepid Travel as they launch their new range of trips for solo travel. These guys have been offering group travel for years so certainly know what they’re doing, but this latest venture ‘Solo Travel Unravelled’ is something that I’m super keen to share with you.
The idea is that for many first time travellers or even those who have a few stamps in their passports but can’t find anyone to go away with them, it can feel a little daunting being out in the world on your own. Heading to a new country with different cultures and ways of life, to the one you know back home, doesn’t come naturally to everyone. So by jetting off with a pack of other solo travellers, you know you’re in great company and many of the fears you once had will just disappear.
Intrepid already offer group trips to some amazing places, where you have the comfort of being with like-minded travellers all up for exploring the place you’re in. The only difference is that you may be the only singleton in a group of couples or well-established friends. Not that being surrounded by these sorts of people is a problem, I’m of the mindset that backpackers make the best of friends anyway and I’m sure you would soon all become one big happy family but with their new solo tours things are a little different.
We’re talking small groups and big adventures. These new trips have a mix of solo travellers all meeting for the first time and getting hands on, with the help of local guides, to the heart of the country that they’ve longed to discover. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a win win to me!
Myself and Lyn Hughes, editor of Wanderlust Magazine, will be discussing all things travel, from sharing our solo travel advice to backpacking stories at the travel meet up on 5th October 2016, starting at 6.30pm.
You can find out more about Intrepid’s new tours and get a dose of travel inspiration at the free event (I’ve been told there will also be drinks and fab discounts on the new solo trips on the night too).
Simply click here to register your place.
I’d love to meet you and hear your travel tales on the night too!
