I saw on the fantastic travel blog ‘40 countries before I’m 30’ a competition to win £2000 worth of adventure travel with Explore and Blacks and I thought ‘ooh I fancy a piece of that pie’ but it is open to you too! What amazing travel adventure would you choose if you won? Maybe getting close to wild animals on safari in Africa, setting sail around the Greek islands or swapping sun for glaciers on a trip to the Antarctica? If you don’t get the top prize then runners up can get their hands on £150 vouchers.
How To Win
Blacks (who specialize in outdoor gear for those adventurous travellers out there) want you to share your best outdoor photographs in the below categories:
- Wild
- Fast
- Panoramic
- Epic
You can put your own spin on each of these categories, my ideas are below so I hope you enjoy!
Wild
When I was in North Goa, India I visited a spice plantation and it was the first time I have ever seen pineapples growing in the wild. I am used to seeing them stacked in the fruit and veg section of my local supermarket and never gave much thought to how they grow. They just looked so cute and teeny tiny sprouting from the ground.
Fast
One of the fastest excursions that I experienced whilst abroad was a flight around Mount Everest whilst in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was a once in a lifetime experience that was worth every penny even though it took just 30minutes or so. Being in a claustrophobic tin can plane circling around the awe-inspiring glacial backdrop was such a special moment even though I may have had trouble locating it (yes I am embarrassed about this and you can find out what happened here).
Panoramic
During my travels I spent many a day and night on a bus journey and was used to stopping off to buy snacks, have toilet breaks and for everyone to stretch their legs. But I had never seen a ‘service station’ that was so rustic with such a jaw dropping view before stopping here on my way to Pokhera, Nepal. I will never look at a motorway service station in the same way again.
Epic
This photo sums up I how ecstatically happy* I was at getting to the Taj Mahal after surviving a cancelled wedding, quitting my job and selling everything I owned. I was so proud of myself for having the courage and strength to travel as a solo female which has been a decision I don’t think I will ever regret.
*even with the dodgy/totally amazing trousers.
