I would call myself a wannabe writer. I have a head full of story ideas and you know I love to loose myself in a good book but sometimes plucking up the confidence to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard is harder than it should be. I am often thinking who will care about this, when will anyone even read this, am I wasting my time when I could be doing other things? I think this lack of confidence stems from not really finding my feet as a writer or having any feedback on how I am doing as I lock myself away with my laptop.
But what has truly boosted my confidence this week is when I found out I am going to be having Rosie Blake writer extraordinaire as my mentor as part of the WoMentoring Project. This is a scheme to help unpublished female writers receive advice and tips from published pro’s in the women’s literature world.
To apply they ask for info about you, a 1000 word example of your writing and who you would like to mentor you from the list of authors. I didn’t even read the other names once I knew Rosie was involved, as I loved her book ‘How To Get a (Love) Life’ with her hilarious snort-out-loud comedy moments. It is this happiness that I would love to make people feel when they read my work. I sent it all off and it was shocked when I received an email this week from Rosie saying she had read my writing, thought it was fab and wanted me to be her mentee! (mental!)
Rosie kindly let me take over her website yesterday which you can check out here! You can also find her on twitter @RosieBBooks so don’t be shy pop by and say hi.
I can’t wait to share with you where this writing journey takes me but I am feeling so much more confident and excited to get going now I have Rosie to help! *Runs off to practice autograph*
