I Heart Me

Hands up who is a selfie lover? Cocking your iphone to the side to get the best shot to upload onto Instagram especially with all their flattering settings is a vain habit so many of us are guilty of. But I say rejoice to the selfie and express the love for yourself. Today is not just about loving others but about loving the number 1 in your life which should be you. I’m not talking about taking it to the vain level (starring in any mirrored surface and talking about yourself in the third person) but every once in a while I think it can be healthy to take a look in the mirror and instead of picking out your flaws you admire your positive features.

To link both selfie photographs and looking your best nicely together is the Revlon Photoready range. Was that a flawless link or what?!

I used to wear Christian Dior Forever foundation, pricey I know but I just loved the coverage it gave me and also how long it lasted. But times have changed and I need to stop living a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget (although the fizzy stuff is so much cheaper over here in France) so I opted for a drug store brand with my fingers crossed I wouldn’t notice the difference.

I picked up the Revlon Photoready foundation in Perfect Beige, which I think is slightly too dark for me as my travel tan is a distant memory right now, and I also got the Perfection Primer as I have been reading so many good things about these primers but never needed to use them before.

Ok so I can’t sit and type that it is an exact cheap alternative to the Dior coverage but for a fraction of the price it isn’t half bad. I have been applying the primer first which is really smooth and melts into the skin then applying the foundation on top. This double layering does help with its longevity and makes it easy to apply as your skin is prepped and ready.

I must have been feeling particularly up for trying things that day as the Revlon Photoready Flushed Rougissant cream blusher in shade 200 fell into my basket, when I usually use powdered blusher in my regime. I just thought the shade was beautiful I couldn’t resist giving it a go. I have been applying this onto the apples of my cheeks and building the colour gradually as I learnt my lesson after my first attempt when I plopped a big dollop on and struggled to then remove it meaning I looked like Pollyana for the rest of the day. I would recommend this range if your skin is in quite good condition as I think it is fairly pigmented so if you have any dry patches it’s going to stick.

Whatever your views are on today I hope you have a great valentine’s day, whether you are being wined and dined by that special someone, having a pj party with your best mate or just sticking your fingers up at this commercial nonsense all alone. I’m off to take another selfie to show my love for me.
