Goodbye 2013

Wow what a year that has been. As I said in a previous post there have been major highs and lows but what has become even more obvious than ever before is the importance of family, ensuring you follow your heart and doing what makes you happy.

I may not be the biggest fan of New Year’s Eve but I do love the feeling that a brand new year gives you. A clean slate and a sense of excitement that you have no idea what the year has in offer for you. Some of it will be amazing, some of it will be bad – that is just a fact of life but please try and remember during those bad times that things will always improve, maybe not as soon as you want but trust me they will.

I have never been great at sticking to resolutions but it’s a good time to stop and reflect at how you can improve yourself. Surely if we all try to make changes to be the best person we can be that is a good thing.

You will know that I am a big believer in learning and that knowledge helps us all to become better people. So my biggest challenge the tail end of this year has been learning French which has vastly improved from my GCSE grade C that I got 13 years ago but I still have a way to go before I feel confident in certain situations.

I received a beautiful blue guitar for Christmas. I have never seen a guitar in this gorgeous deep blue before and I love it. You might remember I had a guitar when I was in Thailand but had to leave it there because I couldn’t take it on the plane which I was gutted about as I had just started to master the basics. So now I need to try and get my head and hands to remember what I learnt and start strumming away so I can become a world-wide recording artist - hmm maybe not.

To help with my new year’s resolution to be a better blogger I got a swanky new camera which I think will take me some time to try and use but luckily the instructions are in English! I still want to travel more and hopefully if I get back to being Miss Sally Savings I can be jetting off at the end of the year.

One gift I got for Christmas that I wanted to share with you and also inspire you for making your resolutions came from my cousin. She wrote me the most heartfelt card which had me in tears and it came with this beautiful bracelet. She has bought one of these for all the women in our family and after my granddad’s death I truly believe the words have so much meaning – as life is too short.

Happy 2014 to you all! What are your resolutions?
