I had to go back to Bangkok to pick up my passport that had been with the Indian embassy for quite a while now. Feels so nice to have it back in my grubby hands as I had grown used to continuously rummaging through my bag to check for the essentials and having a mini panic attack when I realised it was missing a vital part, ‘phone, money, passport omg where is my passport, oh yeah it’s in Bangkok still’.
After waiting in line at the busy embassy I practically skipped out clutching my passport with a huge smile on my face.
After travelling from Koh Lanta on yet another 15hour bus journey to Bangkok, I wanted to get my passport and have an early night before leaving the next day to go to Kanchanaburi. However, things never seem to go like that! I was sat in a bar having a drink and using their wifi when these two English guys asked if I would like some company, we chatted over a few changs, this then led to more and more, then dinner and cocktails. So much for a quiet and early night.
They were just starting their travels and it felt so nice to be able to give them advice on where to go and things to do. I had this proud mother hen look on my face when they wrote my suggestions down. I even surprised myself with the knowledge I had picked up from being away for this short time.
We had been talking about tattoos and one guy said he just wanted a dot on his stomach. A dot. Whatever floats your boat I guess, then two hours after telling us this he says ‘sod it I’m going to get my dot’. Chang does crazy things to people then mix that with being in the mental world of Bangkok, this led to him slamming his drink down and walking off in search of the nearest tattoo shop.
Ten minutes later he is back and pumped full of adrenaline, he takes off his shirt and shows us this dot the size of a five pence piece just near his belly button. It looks red and sore and he keeps scratching it. Mmmm yummy.
Such a shame I am leaving first thing in the morning as I would love to be there when the hangover kicks in and he realises through his bloodstained t-shirt what the hell happened last night.
