2016 Is Looking Good

Oh hey there brand new year. I hope you had a rocking New Year’s Eve and felt as rotten as I did yesterday? But in my eyes the new year starts on the second of January when you are out of that emotional hungover fug and really to face the world. Wearing your sassy pants and all.

So embrace this blank page. This clean slate. Let’s have some fun with whatever this year may bring your way.

I’ve never been one for making resolutions as I prefer to be inspired during the year when things crop up that I say yes to. I never would have stuck to running every day for 100 days if I’d resolved to do it back in January. Sometimes things just happen when you need them most.

But it is good to have some sort of a plan. Who doesn’t love a good to-do list? So rather than set yourself up for a fall with rigorous, detailed and time consuming things in the bleakest month of the year I think we should look to the things we know are coming our way.

I have a very exciting start to the year planned….

In 19 days my debut novel Destination Thailand will be released. It has already been put on Netgalley for book bloggers to request and I’ve actually had some early reviews come through. To say I’m happy with the response is an understatement. I literally cried in my dad’s kitchen as he looked at me like I’d lost the plot until realising what was causing these happy tears. I just thought back to past Katy who was in such a mess after being jilted that she didn’t know up from down. I resolved back then to make something out of that crappy time so to hear strangers tell me they enjoyed my writing was the biggest high EVER!

Quite apt for an author who writes about exotic destinations I will actually be spending the big launch day out of the country. In two weeks’ time I’m jetting off once more. This time I’m backpacking solo to explore the Philippines where I’m hoping to find a charming beach hut where I can write my third novel, enjoy being back on the road and of course running regularly.

That leads me onto the next huge thing happening to me this year. The bloody Paris marathon. Training has now started but will only get harder and (as I’m going to be away) a lot hotter.

I then fly back just in time for my best friends hen do, my second novel Destination India being released, the actual marathon and then both Jen’s and my brother’s wedding. This is all before the middle of the year! Of course you will be there during all this fun and adventure. I have big plans for my little space on the internet and can’t wait to share all I am discovering with you.

So yeah no new year’s resolutions for me, to be honest I don’t know if I would find the time! This is the year to do more of what makes you happy, I for one cannot ruddy wait!

Have you made any plans? I’d love to know what you’ve already got penciled into your diaries.

You’ve got an amazing 2016 set up already! I did three months of no alcohol and I plan to do six months this year - I never would have done it if I’d planned it in January last year, but I’m so glad I did!
